Folklore

Folklore dance refers to traditional dances that are passed down through generations within a specific culture or community.

Latin

“Latin dance” refers to a variety of dance styles that originated in Latin America, including countries like Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Venezuela, and more. 

  1. Salsa: This is a popular dance style that originated in Cuba and is characterized by its fast-paced, syncopated rhythms and sensual movements.

  2. Kizomba: This dance from Angola is often danced to a variety of music styles, including Kizomba, Zouk, Tarraxinha, and Semba.

  3. Bachata: a romantic and sensual dance style that originated in the Dominican Republic and is characterized by its slow, fluid movements and close partner work.

Swing

Swing is a style of jazz music that originated in the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. 

  1. Lindy Hop: It is characterized by its acrobatic and athletic moves, such as the “swing out” and “air step.”

  2. West Coast Swing: This is a style of swing dance that originated in California in the 1930s and 1940s and is characterized by its smooth, slotted movement.

  3. Charleston: This is a style of swing dance that originated in the 1920s and is characterized by its fast-paced, syncopated footwork and wild arm movements.

Dance

Electronic dance music (EDM) is a genre of music that is produced using electronic instruments and technology. 

  1. House: This is one of the earliest forms of EDM and originated in the Chicago club scene in the 1980s. It is characterized by its use of a 4/4 beat, synthesizers, and a focus on the bassline.

  2. Techno: This is a genre of EDM that originated in Detroit in the 1980s and is characterized by its use of repetitive, mechanical beats and complex rhythms.

  3. Trance: This is a genre of EDM that originated in the 1990s and is characterized by its use of a steady, uplifting beat and a focus on melody.

Stage

Studio to stage dance refers to the process of choreographing and rehearsing a dance piece in a studio setting and then performing it on a stage or other public venue.
